Is That Snow????????????

Uh Oh.......Snow is Cold!
We don't get a lot of snow in this part of Virginia so when the first flakes began to fall early Christmas evening some of the girls didn't even know what it was. At first it was only sticking to the grass and the streets were just wet. When we went to bed it still didn't look like much but by the time we got up on Sunday morning everything was covered and it continued to snow and snow and snow. At one point Suzette and Etienne, determined to wear their new ski suits and make a snowman, sneaked out and got stuck. Fortunately I heard their cries for help and rushed to rescue them.

'Twas the night before Christmas..........

And all through the house..........

not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.............

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...............

Home for the Holidays

 .

A week from today is Christmas and there is a frenzy of preparations at Bleu Manor.  Georgette sets up the Nativity while Camille puts the finishing touches on the tree.  Everyone has been so upset with me because when I was working on the Hitty Cottage, I took the Fireplace from Bleu Manor and used it in the Cottage.  For Hitty it makes one of the huge fireplaces often seen in the kitchens of Early American Homes. Anyway, I promptly ordered another fireplace but it took more than two weeks to get here so the Bleu Manor Parlor and all of the residents have been in a state of confusion and panic except for Suzette that is. She only worries about what she will wear and she does look very pretty in her Christmas plaid Robe de Masion.

The new Chef at Bleu Manor has the kitchen under control and the oven going 24/7.  The aroma of fresh baked cookies, cakes and pies wafts through the house.

Etienne, who usually rules supreme in the kitchen actually left him in charge and she, looking tres chic, found time to do some last minute shopping.
Sylvie, already in trouble for wearing Suzette's fur trimmed red boots without permission, stops by the kitchen and sneaks a cookie but Chef pretends not to notice.  Happy little Sylvie is his favorite.

Is it Christmas yet...........................?

The Twins, Dori and Dior, can't wait until Christmas so they spend a big part of each day gathered around the tree shaking presents and trying to guess what's in them or asking, "Is it Christmas yet?".
Suzette, always the Fashionista, looks very lovely indeed in her wine colored silk dress trimmed with vintage lace. This is the gift we made for our BSC exchange partner. Suzette really didn't want to let it go and she certainly looks pretty in it but I finally convinced her that I would make her something even prettier if she would just take it off and let me mail it. LOL! Now you know she won't let me forget that.

Hitty Goes Christmas Shopping

Today was a really big day for Hitty Annabelle. She decided it was time to do some shopping so she got up very early and traveled the 45 miles from Norfolk to Williamsburg.  She visited many shops and found wonderful treasures. At the end of the day, her cart full, she hurried home, tired but happy. Tomorrow she and Hitty Becca would start decorating.

A Cup of Christmas Tea

Today is called "Black Friday" because it's the first official shopping day of Christmas and the merchants are fervently hoping to have a huge profit when the day is done. Here at Manior de Bleuette, or Bleu Manor as we fondly refer to it,  we decided to have a Tea Party instead of shopping. Some of the girls pulled out their pretty Christmas dresses and spent the morning primping. They also found the Christmas tea set and a few other decorations to make their little party a fun and festive affair. Even Miss Kitty joined in.

Stylish Styles

My little Daisyette, a Kestner reproduction by Suzanne McBrayer has a darling new play dress and mop cap. The dress and cap were made from from a pattern by Londonberries which is based on the Lettie Lane Paper Dolls from 1911. The dress is made from a two toned pink cotton print with solid white collar, pockets and belt and the mop cap is made from the same white and trimmed with eyelet lace and pretty pink Forget-Me-Not's.
Georgette, a Premieré by Beth Golding
Georgette, a Premieré by Beth Golding, is ready to trim the tree here at Bleu Manor. She is wearing a very cute drop waist dress made from a gingerbread boy and girl cotton print and trimmed with tatted lace at the neck. Her jacket is LSDS 1913 #31 and is made from a coordinating green linen and lined with the dress fabric peeking out at the cuffs. A cute little gingerbread boy button completes the jacket. Even her shoes, made by Judy Chamberlain of Fantasy Frocks and Footwear, match her ensemble perfectly. Judy's ID on Etsy is grammamimi.

Getting Ready for Christmas

Teddy, a Laughing Jumeau by Candy Anderson and
Isabelle, a 6/0 by Suzanne McBrayer
It is the weekend before Thanksgiving and, because there are so many to clothe, we have begun Christmas preparations.

Here you will see Teddy and Isabelle with their little wagon of Christmas goodies. Teddy is wearing LSDS 1910 #15 and Isabelle is wearing LSDS 1908 #26. I think they look very Edwardian.
